SYTYCD Top 6

Our Top 6:
Jakob
Ashleigh
Ellenore
Ryan
Kathryn
Russell

First Up:
Kathryn and Ryan - Samba
So, when they started, I thought it was a little rough. They were tentative in their steps instead of deliberately slow but then when they did that second assisted spin into a more sped up pace it was much better for me. I think Ryan did a really good job in his own style - The throw over the head onto the back was great, but the African Anteater dance just before threw me off so I had to go watch it again.

Next Up:
Ellenore and Jacob - Broadway
Okay, so everyone is going probably going to boo me - but I didn't like that at all. I've never liked the "Fosse" style and so really for me it was the choreography that I just didn't get into. So, I'm sure other people think I'm crazy but I couldn't get past the style to even critique the dancing - which I'm sure was wonderful - but again... not a fan.

Next Up:
Russell and Ashleigh - Lyrical Jazz
I have never seen Ashleigh look so beautiful and serene. There's one moment where they do a close up on her face and the lyric is "you're never nothing less than beautiful" and in that moment, that feeling is shining out of her so clearly. Really one of her most lovely moments. And don't get me started on Russell. He did an amazing job. One of the softest Sonya pieces I think I remember ever seeing.

Switch it up:

Ellenore and Ryan - Jazz
So - while this is not my particular cup of tea - I actually got to appreciate Ellenore more than I did in her Broadway routine. It suited her so much more I think. So while I didn't "enjoy" the routine itself, I at least got to enjoy her in it.

Ashleigh and Jakob - Foxtrot
I don't like the side ponytail or her dress at all! Still, they did an effortless job. I love their chemistry together - I think they are really such a good pairing.

Russell and Ellenore - Passo Doble
I'm thinking why isn't he dancing with Kathryn - because that should be the logical next pairing. But now that I'm off that - I love the dress. Some really good moments for Russell - he definitely does strong really well for me. Not one of my favorite routines - but not bad.

Jakob and Kathryn - Contemporary
Okay - so this is going to sound horrible too... I miss Mia. That was a lot of cool tricks but none of the emotion that I get from a Mia Michaels piece. I didn't get teary at all. Okay - so now I'm going to go back and watch it again and see if I can get something more from it. Nope - Great unison - great dancing - great spins and leaps and steps and jumps and musicality - but no great emotion. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Ryan and Ashleigh - Contemporary
Now that is what I'm talking about. That is Travis Wall in those steps - it was beautiful. Their connection was so important - so central to the piece - the music tied in to the choreography so perfectly. They were in such sync together and when he rocked her and it was so gentle and loving - I cried. For me - that is what the Jakob and Kathryn piece missed. And I know there are people out there who aren't fans - but I really love Ashleigh and I would be so pleased if she won.

Kathryn and Russell - Hip Hop
Okay - that's the most I've liked Kathryn all night. Legacy taught her well. She was hitting just as hard as Russell - and they did great. Again - not my most favorite Hip Hop routine of all season - but still really liked it.

Okay - so I have no idea who's going to win - but I'm not going to lie - my vote is

SYTYCD - Top 8

(Maggie had to tell me this was the Top 8, not the Top 6... I knew that next week is the finale - which has always been the top 4 till now - but apparently for whatever reason, we're going next week from 6 to 1. I believe it's because there isn't enough talent for the top 4 to warrant a 2 hour finale show on their own... Maggie thinks it's because they wanted to wrap it up before Christmas week. What are your thoughts?)

Okay, so let's begin!

Top 8:
Ryan
Ellenore
Jakob
Kathryn
Russell
Mollee
Legacy

Wait... where is Ashleigh?

Oh no! She popped her shoulder out and the stupid doctor won't clear to dance.

Squeaker Squeak and Ryan:
R: not disco!
M: It's not the disco - it's Doriana Sanchez.
R: Nice pants
M: I think Michael's is out of spangles.
R: Who bedazzled them? That must have taken FOREVER.
M: How many tiny Chinese children did they use? That requires tiny foreign fingers.
R: Way to go with the alliteration.

Next up: Gal pals Mollee and Jakob
R: And we have a waltz... that'll be fun.
M: I like her styling in this - she reminds me of Molly - you know, Molly-Molly.
R: Ah, Mary Molly Keeley Cheeley Hicks!
M: Indeed
R: F'n A. So I'm just so underwhelmed.
M: She's just so stiff. I wish she'd grab his butt.
R: no thanks.
M: Judges are on crack tonight. That just wasn't very good.

Ashleigh is 1-888- Tempo 01
That's 1-888-83676-01

Ellenore and Legacy:
R & M (IN UNISON!): Yay TRAVIS!!!!
R: So, war of the roses fighting couple?
M: Yeah. I like her leg bend.
R: I am distracted by that thing on her leg!
M: It would be cool if she had a knife or a gun in it but it seems kind of random all on it's own. Crunch! (sorry, eating chips and salsa in your ear)
R: Oh! oh oh oh oh oh! Mr. & Mrs. Smith!
M: Ohhhhhhyeah. I see it now.
R: okay, so I'm gonna watch it back, because I am distracted by the sexy and the leg thing and the...
M: Creepy.
R: yes. - so second time around, liked it better. Enjoyed the jump over/under table and the headstand into a sexual position on top of the table.
M: Wait, I thought this was a family show!
R: well... it is America.
M: True.
R: You know when I see Travis, I think of beautiful, poignant, angsty choreography... not sex and death.
M: It was very "He had it coming" Or Sonya and Mandy Moore had a love child. It just wasn't Travis.
R: Nigel I would like to give you props for Danger - you old English coot.

Jakob solo -
M: His shorts make me crazy and his top makes him look like he's got boobs!
R: His legs are sick though!
M: Yes, but his clothes are distracting.
R: Yes.

Next Up: Russel and Ashleigh
R: Did you notice that this is twice he's lost a partner to injury.
M: Yeah, he's bad luck. Wait, with Ashleigh out, is Shane going to step in?
R: I would love to see that.
M: No, we have Rachel - his assistant.
R: But she's not that good. Are we sure she's not his Ass-istant?
M: sooooo wrong.
R: what?
M: Moving on... Russell was pretty awesome.
R: He was. He hits SO HARD!
M: I wish I could have seen Ashleigh do this.
R: me too!

Mollee Solo:
M: It was Mollee being Mollee - so cute but eh.

Kathryn and Ryan:
R: Hot outfit.
M: For both of them.
R: The fringe is helping her butt.
M: I think she might go this week.
R: Her and Ryan both.
M: This doesn't seem like a cha cha.
R: Oh!
M: Neat ending.
R: They're all standing?
M: I don't get it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't awesome.

Legacy Solo:
R: So that was gimmiky. I preferred last weeks solo soooooooo much more.
M: That wasn't that great Cheekbones McGee.

Ellenore Solo:
R: Is she saving her energy for something else?
M: Yeah, I like the song, but all the solo's for me are just eh tonight.

Russell 's Solo:
M: Russell the love muscle - lost his shoe... I don't think it was on purpose.
R: Eh.

Mollee and Jakob doing Broadway:
M: It's Joey the Mean Choreographer!
R: Yeah, don't like her. But let's see how this works out.
M: Great I'm gonna have that song in my head for three days!
R: So, I think she's a little stiff.
M: No. He's Gumby. See the back of that vest, that's not fabric, that's his skin showing through.
R: whatever. I would have preferred to see Squeaker Squeak do this one.
M: Yeah, I think it wasn't Squeaker Squeaks week for choreographers.
R: *Sigh*
M: Indeed.
R: F'n A. So, overall?
M: Wasn't bad. Wasn't amazing.
R: yeah.
M: Gumby was good, but pokey never gets to shine...
R: Moving on.

Kathryn Solo:
R: So that's the first solo I've liked all night.
M: I concur.

Legacy and Ellenore with Nappy-Tabs routine.
R: I didn't get it at all. It was ok. Not the best.
M: I liked the part with the masks the best.
R: I did as well.
M: I think Ellenore was misfiring - maybe a timing issue.
R: Yeah, the costumes for me were very sort of.
M: Meh.
R: Exactly. Thankfully they have that other number which even if people didn't like it, was at least memorable.
M: It showcased their goodies.

Ryan's Solo:
R: Gay strip club, here I come!
M: Very salsa cheerleader...

Next Up Russell:
M: I would have really liked to seen Ashleigh do that.
R: Yeah, me too. I think she would have been really good at that.
M: It makes me mad every time I think about it. I'm going to have to vote for her.
R: I do agree with Nigel that my eyes stayed on Russell instead of the professional woman dancing with him.

Vote:
M: I think it might be Legacy and Squeaker Squeak going home.
R: I think it's going to be Ryan and Squeaker Squeak (or Mollee) going home.
M: I would be okay if Ryan went home.
R: I would hate to see Ashleigh go home.
M: There's always a chance though since she didn't dance.
R: I know - so I'm gonna go vote for her.
M: Me too!

Top 10

Okay, so I'm on my own again. This week my computer is working and so I can actually write about the show...

Let's get started, shall we?

Couples have been broken up. Girls pick their partners out of the hat.

First up: Noelle and Ryan
ummmmmmmmmmm.... wow. That was.... steamy. I was not prepared for it to get straight to it, but wow. I actually watched it again, to make sure I wasn't being fooled by the hairography... but it was one of the best hip-hop routines this season I think. Ryan was a bit stiff, but Noelle was really good. Good way to start the night.

Next: Ashleigh and Legacy
ummmmm.... so that was not my cup of tea at all. That was a little too something for me - artsy, interpretive, techno filled.... I guess they did a good job. They definitely gave it everything they had. Okay, so the playback during Mary's critique had no music and I found myself paying attention to the steps, so I went back and watched it without the music. That was really amazing. Once I took away the distraction of the music and focused on the dance - I was super impressed. They did a really great job.

Mollee Solo - really good. Love her hair like that - she should be in Grease.

Russell Solo - I LOVES IT! Tempo zero 2 people!

Next: Squeaker Squeak and Nathan
I really enjoyed that a lot. That was the best Broadway number I think they've had all season. It doesn't hurt that I absolutely adore that song (from the movie White Christmas if you didn't recognize it). Kathryn looked absolutely beautiful - she was perfection for me in the dance. I really didn't pay much attention to Nathan - so I'm gonna watch it again. So, is it just me or does he seem to be a tad older without Mollee? He suits that wholesome era that they were trying to evoke perfectly.

Noelle Solo - She really always dances for her life. She's got great legs - her feet are beautiful and she's a great dancer.

Next: Ellenore and Jakob
Okay, so the quickstep is usually the kiss of death. I think they did a really good job. I almost miss the pre-packaged video footage before the dance so you could really get something more memorable to help make people want to pick up the phone and vote at the end.

Ryan Solo - He would make a fortune in a gay strip club.

Kathryn Solo - Lovely.

Next Up: Mollee and Russell:
So... I didn't hate it. I thought the choreography was beautiful, I liked the song choice, we know I love Russell and I don't hate Mollee - but something was missing. It just didn't make me feel what I knew it was supposed to make me feel. There was no loss, no longing, no believable yearning. I just was left slightly disappointed. It was danced well, I just wanted more.

Nathan Solo - Okay, I'm going to sound heartless here for a second, but the tears on the video... did they feel contrived to anyone else after all the comments this season about not coming off as likable in his clips? Just me? Okay, moving on to the dancing - which was... interesting...

Next up: Noelle and Ryan
Smooth Waltz's can be hard, but hopefully they'll get votes from the hip hop earlier. Personally, I thought it was just beautiful and I loved it. Sort of soft and dreamy - very elegant - and that dress - in the spin.... oh so lovely.

Ellenore Solo - she is so quirky. Such a unique dancer.

Next up: Ashleigh and Legacy
Really?!?! Vampire cheeze factor was not helpful. If they could stop making it harder for Legacy I would appreciate it. That was just... bad. But if they had the same choreography with a different story - say... a preppy girl and a bad boy... that would have worked with the song and not been completely stupid. Sorry, I'm ranting because I feel like they were robbed by cheese. I thought Ashleigh moved really well, I think Legacy struggled because of the stupid cape and campiness of the whole thing.

Next: Kathryn and Nathan:
I wasn't impressed with this one - the lack of chemistry was so completely apparent that it was almost painful to watch - especially since the dance really required it.

Legacy Solo - Seriously?!?!? Could he be any more awesome. I mean he's a B Boy with freaking musicality and lyrical movement in his solo... I'm a convert - Legacy all the way. LOVE HIM!
(oh, and I believe in his tears)

Next: Ellenore and Jakob
The size of the stage really sort of took away from this one. I felt like it would have been so much more impactful if it had been sort of less space around the conflict of their movement. LOVED the end position.

Ashleigh Solo - So if a girl is gonna win it this year - it better be her. I mean, I wasn't a fan of her during auditions, but she just really has grown on me so much - and it doesn't hurt that she's kind of kicking butt and taking names...

Next: Mollee and Russell
Russell is awesome. He's got legs made of rubber. That was such a fun jive.

Jakob Solo - horrible distracting shorts - amazing legs.

So... who should go home?

I think Nathan should go home... but it could be Jakob or Ryan - depending on audience votes. As for the girls I think Mollee should go but it could be Kathryn or Ellenore or even Noelle if they don't connect with the audience...

My prediction: Nathan and Kathryn will both go home. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

SYTYCD - Top 14

So... I'm on my own tonight. After last week's dismal top 16 routine that I finally watched (and did not feel like re-hashing) I am hoping this week will be somewhat entertaining.

Here we go!

But first we have a commercial with Karen from W&G singing turn the tub around to the tune of turn the beat around... really?!?!? ok... fast forward the commercials from now on...

Ashleigh and Jakob with a NappyTabs hip hop routine...
I would have liked that routine better with Chelsea and Mark...(bleeding love anyone?!)

Next is Kevin and Karen doing a Broadway routine by Spencer Liff (who?)
I would have liked to see that with Evan and Randi...

Next up is Noelle and Russell doing a fox trot by someone...
Good lift and she's got good legs... but I would have rather seen it by Travis and Martha

Next up Channing and Victor doing a jazz routine by Tyce - or is it Keith?
so... I saw steps, not dancing. I would have preferred seeing that danced by Hok and Jamie...

Next we have Legacy and Squeaker Squeak (Katheryn) doing a Passo Doble.
That was actually pretty darn good. Great intensity and chemistry. Little difficulty at the end but at least I wasn't imagining the dance being done by a different pair.

Next up Ellenore and Ryan doing a contemporary routine by Travis! (I love Travis)
Love the routine... that first look when they passed each other was my favorite part from Ryan - because it was a "real" look - still, I would really love to have seen it with Jeanine and Jason or Kupono and Kayla or Ade and Melissa or Lacey and Kameron. But again, the choreography was beautiful, and the little details and the musicality of it were great.

Last but not least are Mollee and Nathan doing a pop jazz routine by Laurieann (who I have not been a fan of seasons past...)
ok... soooooooo.... I actually didn't hate it, but... I would have preferred to see it with Courtney and Mark (Like with the Sonya routine)

My pick for the bottom 3:
Karen and Kevin
Noelle & Russell
Channing & Victor

I wonder if everyone else has been watching this season's choreography and thinking about how much better it would be with dancers past...

SYTYCD - Top 18

Ok - so...
M: I am so over the tapping.
R: Yeah.
M: Also - really don't like the new set.
R: It's too big and impersonal.
M: I miss the stairs.
R: I hadn't even noticed there weren't stairs, but there should be stairs.
M: It gave it an american bandstand solid gold feel.
R: Yes.
M: If they point out that Paula is STILL not in the chair...
R: Yes. I'm a scream like Mary Murphy.
M: And they've done it.
R: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
M: Nice punniness by The Shankman, though.

Good news! Billy Bell (love) and Brandon can join the competition next year! That's nice of the network to allow. Though I honestly can't think of a reason why they wouldn't. In other news, Noelle is back. Whee.

M: Did you hear crickets?
R: Yes, yes I did.

Up first Russell and Noelle with a hip-hop routine choreographed by Jamal Sims

M: I find this routine incongruous.
R: Ridiculous!
M: It's horrible!
R: He's good but I am distracted by her badness. And her hair. It's too feathery.
M: bad use of props.
R: This makes the chain routine from last year seem even more spectacular because they used the props so well.
M: Indeed.
R: F'in A. High School Musical anyone?
M: Go Wildcats!
(Tonight the judges are on crack, and since they get to decide, we're not going to relay what they think cuz... duh with results on them)

Next Up:
Jakob and Ashleigh with a Vietnamese waltz with El Capitan Lapatin!
M: could they put her hair up for the love of sweet baby Jesus?!?!?
R: oh look it's up.
M: in the ugliest bun I've ever seen!
R: I always love a good Vietnamese Waltz
M: Could you imagine if this was the first dance at an actual wedding?!?!
R: Awesome!
M: Nice lift.
R: Yes.
M: Good use of the background.
R: Yes. I did like it much better.
M: Hilary Swank moment!

Next Up:
Bianca and Victor dancing a routine by Tyce (or will it be Keith?)
R: Her neck is still stiff or her shoulders are tensed up.
M: You're right!!! Not sure though if this is a Tyce piece or not. I don't know what to say about that.
R: Yeah... I don't know. I didn't hate it... but... eh.
M: There was no reckless abandon - which was the point.
R: They were too restrained.

Next Up:
Mollee and Nathan doing bollywood with that guy who does the bollywood stuff.
R: I love her feet.
M: She's really cute in this.
R: So is he.
M: She's really punctuated.
R: Even her face at the end... really good.
M: And she didn't look 14!
R: And - GOOD USE OF PROP!!!!
M: Word!
R: To your mother.
M: Indeed.
R: F'n A!

Next Up:
Channing and Mr. Bojangles doing a Samba from Capitan Lapatin!
R: Isolation, Syncopation, Emancipation Proclamation.
M: Good Hips.
R: Awkward lift.
M: I think he's better than her on this one.
R: I think they're both equally horrible.
M: Another awkward lift, and the good hips are gone.
R: Yeah, bad.
M: I believe that Mary is wearing bedazzled damask... which goes too far.
R: Stop making me snort!
M: Wha happen!?!?!
R: I knew that was coming....evil!

Next up:
Karen and Kevin doing hip hop by NappyTabs.
M: You know what I like about Tabitha that she's not classically pretty, but she's so confident she's more pretty than if she were a classic beauty.
R: She's got the attitude.
M: And the ability to get away with that outfit. WOW!
R: She could be just a bit more fluid.
M: Her movements could be a bit bigger. Everything is a bit too close to the body so you don't get the full curve into the next movement.

Next Up:
Kathryn (Squeaker Squeak) and Legacy doing lyrical? by Tookey.
So... we were speechless and typed nothing. 2nd time:
M: Damn he's hot.
R: Yeah, I'm getting the Legacy Love.
M: Word.
R: I really thought I was going to hate her (squeaker), but this is week 2 and she is really just awesome! I think she's my favorite girl.
M: He might be my favorite guy and I thought he was going to suck at this style but He was the Shiz.
R: That was awesome. As good as a Mia routine.
M: I concur with my esteemed colleague on the left of the couch.

Next Up:
Pauline and Peter doing a Wade Robeson routine.
M: Not saying he sucks, but she's extra awesome - her face is great.
R: I love the picture and I love Wade
M: I like this routine - I liked that a LOT!
R: Me too.
M: The judges are on crack - except Nigel this week.

Last but not least:
Ryan and Eleanore doing an Argentine tango... fun.
M: She's got great Tango hair.
R: Nice drop.
M: Those lifts aren't awkward - about time!
R: Yes, that was good. Way to dance with the skirt in the heel.
M: When did Adam become pervy and hetero?
R: I know, but he's right - it was great.

Ok so bottom 4:
Noelle
Bianca
Mr. Bojangles
Victor

R: I would like to see Noelle and Mr. Bojangles go.
M: Word.
R: Except for Noelle's solo is pretty freakin AWESOME!
M: That's what you call dancing for your life yo!
R: Word.
M: Do More Victor.
R: Yeah, that was bad.
M: She is the weakest of the 3 tappers in regular dancing.
R: And I didn't like her solo at all.
M: here's Mr. Bojangles.
R: Sorry, my hubby just did a butt shake walking away that was sooooo cute and I got distracted.
M: Yeah...

Ok - so both the tappys (not the nappy tabs) got to leave. Only one left. This is a good thing. There can be only one anyhow. Highlander tap dance rules. In good news, the elimination doesn't end with a beheading in these rules. Toodles Bojangles and Biancar!

As for the rest of you, we'll see you next week.

Top 20 - 10/27/09

So... we meet again.

Hello Cat, Nigel, Mary... our gay crush Adam Shankman. tee heee shankman. He likes to... no... I'll stop.

We find that Noel being injured doesn't particularly bother us today, but we're unclear - is Billy sick? What's going on? Renee's telly is crap - that's what's going on! It skips and stutters and the sound goes in and out - comcast has been put on notice. (not that they care)

So, we begin...

First Up:

Nigel's claim that last nights dancing was the best he's EVER seen... Really?!?!? EVER?!?!?! REALLY!?!?!?! Ok.

Moving on... Our first pairing is: Channing and Phillip - or as we shall call him from now on - Mr. Bojangles. Seriously, what is up with the constant smiling. It's creepy. It's like a bad character in a 40's movie. It's like a clown doll in a horror movie. I don't like it! Channing is adorable though.
Jason Gilkison (new choreographer) is teaching them the jive!
M: I'm a fan of her outfit.
R: Me too. She doesn't need him though.
M: They have all the chemistry of a wet dishrag.
R: that under the legs lift thing was awkward.
M: Indeed.
R: F'n A.
Judges Opinion: Adam - Classy pairing. Mary - Not bad, but she wants more. Nigel - is silent because of Renee's TV. But he looks funny when he bounces. Oh look, Nigel's back talking about lack of chemistry!!!

Next up:
Ashleigh and Jakob - not our most favorite pairing.
Tyce Diorio or Keith?!?!?
R: Oh look, it's Hillary Swank!
M: Her hair is too long! It's distracting.
R: She's got a great strut going on and she's not pulling faces like she has been!
M: He's good but his hands read "Gay!"
Judges Opinion: Adam - loves him, wants her to work on her hands. Mary thought she did great and LOVES him. Nigel - is patting himself on his back for keeping her and Jakob is one of the most "gifted" dancers on the show.
Now - we take a break to mop the stage from the pool created by Jakobs sweat!

Next up:
Ariana and Peter doing hip hop by NappyTabs.
R: Well then crotch highlight. and butt spot.
M: I like this song - too bad I can't hear it.
R: Sorry.
Judges Opinion: Adam wanted them to be - no sound. Not enough action and no sound. Always, incredibly talented musicality - wait, when did L'il C show up? Mary - thought it was sloppy in the middle. Nigel - got boo'd. He's wearing a lovely pair of grey striped cranky pants!

Next up:

Russell and Noelle
Fox trot choreographed by El Capitan Lapatin!
R: Did the song really just say vagabond shoes gets penis love?
M: and the whores!
R: No! Certainly not the whores.
M: So distracted by the choppy music.
R: It seemed good to me - I love the Russell
M: Me too. Damn your television!
R: Sorry.
Judges Opinion; Adam loved it and loves Russell. Mary thought it was great and think he's going places. Nigel wants to keep dance in schools.
(an aside: Maggie thinks Fred Astaire had some animalistic rage and could totally have Krumped! - just sayin')

Next up:
Victor and Biancer ;)
Travis Wall contemporary piece - YAY - LOVES THE TRAVIS!
R: For a tap dancer - she's pretty darn good.
M: Can I say something about her dress?
R: Yes.
M: I frickin hate it! It makes her look fat. Why make perfectly fit girls look fat.
R: I can see that.
M: Victor is invisible to me - like I just don't even think about him.
R: Yeah, I didn't remember him at all. And I was just paying more attention to her. I liked all the tricks!
M: I noticed the Travis Wall turn from him, but that was it.
Judges Opinion: Adam loves Travis's choreographer. Thinks Bianca is stiff but thinks Victor is a revelation. Mary loved it - why can't the sound cut off now?!?!? Nigel - bring it back to Travis.

Next Up:
Kevin and Karen
Chacha with Toni and Lapatin!
R: Is he mouthing the words?
M: I don't know - I was distracted by her costume - which I like.
R: You know what I don't like? His sex face.
M: Nice bun dude.
Judges Opinion: Adam - (aside - when he said "that's not really my thing" in reference to being attracted to her M and R died and peed a little in their pants - that was AWESOME!) loved Karen and gave props to Kevin. Mary put Karen on the Hot Tamale train....but Kevin's been left at the depot waving at the train. Nigel thought they danced that very well indeed.

Next Up:
Ryan and Ellenore. Ryan likes his bowflex.
Contemporary with Sonya.
R: That's some cocky confidence from Ellenore.
M: The things on the bottom of her pants make her look like she pooped herself.
R: I'm not digging it - Sonya is no Mia Michaels.
M: Not the best think in SYTYCD history... no, definitely not.
Judges Opinion: Adam thought it was totally beautiful and unique - (R: Really?!?!) Mary: thought the chemistry was crazy good - (R: Really!?!?!) Nigel enjoyed it. (M: is Nigel high?!)

Next Up:
Pauline and Brandon - what?!?!?! Billy's GONE!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes me the most saddest ever.

New choreographer guy dancing a waltz.
R: I'm too distracted by the fact that Billy's gone to care about the smooth waltz.
M: I'm distracted by her dress.
R: That too. I like all the stars.
Judges Opinion: Adam thought they did well. Mary thought they did really well and they're a cute couple. Nigel thought it wasn't strong enough.

Next Up:
Legacy and Katheryn (aka: Squeakersqueak)
Doing Hip Hop by Dave Scott.
R: That's what full commitment looks like, huh?
M: this is probably my favorite of the night so far.
R: Me too.
M: I was really impressed by her.
R: Yeah - considering her voice is grating... and I want to kill her sometimes, she was pretty awesome.
M: He's hot. And she looks really good dirty.
R: I concur.
Judges Opinion: Adam - Dave Scott, Dave Scott, Dave Scott, Dave Scott. Good job. Mary (needs to stop screaming) Murphy thought it was great. Nigel enjoyed the hip hop quest for fire.

Next Up:
Mollee and Nathan
Doing a disco routine by Doriana Sanchez.

R: I love Nathan!
M: She looks like she's 14
R: Yes.
M: Like a 14 year old playing with makeup.
R: But, she's got enough energy for the DISCO! (I hate disco)
M: He on the other hand looks lost and erratic.
R: OH! Nice trick!
M: I enjoy the tricks.
R: what will the judges say?
M: They'll say she looks young and he looks lost and erratic.
R: Let's find out.
Judges Opinion: Adam - your energy is infectious. (They are the swine flu of the competition) Mary thinks they have great charisma. Nigel thought it was great energy and fun.

Decision Time:
Ariana, Brandon, Pauline, Russell (WTF, RUSSELL?!?!?!)

M: I think Brandon and Pauline are going to go
R: I think it might depend on the solo.
M: I think it will be Ariana and Brandon.
R: If it's Russell I'm going to be soooooooooooooo mad.

And out - Ariana and Brandon.

Okiedokie...

I <3 TV

It's completely true. I have a TV addiction. My TV addiction is so great that we have two DVRs in our home so that I don't have to miss any of my shows. (I thank the Lord for the man that invented DVRs on a semi regular basis!)

My friend Maggie and I began getting together to watch So You Think You Can Dance (we refer to it as SYTYCD for those not in the "know") this past season. We have such a great time that we started writing up our opinions and putting them as a post on my Facebook account.

We decided we're going to keep it going when SYTYCD comes back this fall. This time though, I thought I'd do a real BLOG where I can have stuff on ALL my shows without overloading all my Facebook friends with posts.

And here you are. This is my SYTYC TV Blog... because yes, I think I can blog about TV. And hopefully it will entertain people while I'm at it.
